The Hot Water Brewing Company was established in 2013 and became one of the early adopters of canning craft beers. In fact, the company chose to exclusively use this method for its beers.
Its name derives from its proximity to Hot Water Beach, a coastal area known for its unique hot water phenomenon at low tide. The initial brewing lineup was shaped by Dave Kurth, a brewer who had previously worked in several notable breweries internationally. He introduced a selection of craft beers, combining malts from different parts of the world with both New Zealand and international hops.
Over time, the brewery was no longer able to keep pace with demand meaning that brewing, to the same unique recipes and high quality, is now done off-site.
From Local Roots to Global Ambitions
In 2022, a new chapter unfolded for the Hot Water Brewing Company when it was purchased by the Horton Family. No strangers to embracing ventures with zeal, the Hortons saw the potential in the already established brewery and were eager to infuse it with fresh energy and vision. Under their stewardship, there’s a palpable ambition to rejuvenate and fortify the brand’s standing in the craft beer realm.
The family has been meticulous in their approach, working diligently on refining designs and honing recipes. The current range is not just a testament to their commitment but also a peek into the innovative direction the company is heading towards.
